US Open organizers have officially confirmed that Nick Kyrgios of Australia won’t be participating in the 2023 tournament, marking his absence from all four major Grand Slam events this year. The 28-year-old player’s unfortunate streak began when a wrist injury forced him to withdraw from Wimbledon. Subsequently, knee and foot injuries further prevented his appearances at both the Australian Open and the French Open.

Kyrgios faced setbacks earlier in the year as well. He was unable to compete in his home Grand Slam due to a knee injury, and later had to sit out of Roland Garros due to a foot injury.

Joining Kyrgios in withdrawals, Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff was also removed from the US Open lineup. This adjustment allowed Argentine players Diego Schwartzman and Facundo Diaz Acosta to advance into the Main Draw.

Kyrgios’ extended break from the sport has taken a toll on his ATP ranking, dropping him to the 92nd position globally. Interestingly, before his withdrawal from Wimbledon in early July, Kyrgios was questioned about his feelings regarding the time he had been away from tennis during a pre-tournament news conference.
