China, Japan, Brazil, and Italy have emerged as strong contenders in the 2023 FIVB Women’s U21 Volleyball World Championship as they secured significant victories in the second round of the tournament. After a rest day, the championship resumed with the commencement of the second round, which witnessed intense battles and exceptional displays of skill and teamwork. The four national teams, China, Japan, Brazil, and Italy, showcased their prowess on the court and demonstrated their determination to advance further in the tournament.

In Leon, Japan delivered a thrilling performance as they secured a dramatic five-set victory against Serbia. The final scoreline read 3-2 (25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13) in favor of Japan. Our entire team did a great job today, and our setter, Saki Iwamoto, trusted me to score the last point. I was very confident that I was going to be able to put the ball down.

This emphatic win propelled China to the top of the standings in Pool E, surpassing Japan. Chinese captain Yushan Zhuang led all scorers with a remarkable 21 points, featuring 19 kills and two blocks. Middle blocker Jieya Zeng also made significant contributions with 12 points, including eight kills, two aces, and two blocks.

Egypt, in a closely contested battle, overcame Argentina with a 3-2 (25-19, 23-25, 22-25, 31-29, 15-6) victory.

In Aguascalientes, Cuba showcased their determination as they defeated the Dominican Republic 3-1 (17-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-21). Meanwhile, the Netherlands exhibited their superiority as they swept Tunisia with a comprehensive 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-16) victory in Pool H.
